Advanced Office

CIS 150 – Advanced Office
This course studies all the advanced features of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.  These, along with the features covered in CIS 101, include all the testable skills that could appear in the Microsoft Certification Exams.
  • The tests can be taken a Triton, but are separate from the classes, and they are given through a direct connection with Microsoft.
  • I am often asked “What good is being Certified?” Does it mean that you are great a Word or Access? Not necessarily. I’m sure you know of someone who can do well on a test, but can’t apply what he or she knows in a real life situation.  That’s the “critical thinking” part of education you may have heard about.
  • The credential acts like a filter to help you get through the first “wave” of people applying for the same job.  It puts you ahead of everyone who is not Certified.  This is a very important advantage to have.
We’re using Office 2010.
We also have classes that study a single application – Word only, Excel only, etc.

An important part CIS 150 is the creating of Web pages and content using each application.  Another is integration – moving data from one application into another.  Both of these are critical skills to have not only to get a job, but to make you much more flexible throughout your career.
